Around 95 percent of the population in Thailand is Buddist. It is even the State Religion. And that’s easy to see, because the whole culture and society is built on Buddhism. There are over 40,000 Temples in Thailand of which 40 are in Koh Samui. Most Temple Complexes consist of several buildings in many different Colors with a lot of Decorative Details, such as white, terracotta or in different Colors. But there are also complexes that are made up of Statues. Such as the Big Buddha (12 meters high), Budai (a Smiling Lucky Buddha), Guanyin (18 arms, Goddes of Mercy). There are also Pagodas and beautiful Sculpture Gardens to see.
